Avionics Day!!! Spent a good portion of the day installing some avionics. There was a little jumping around as it seems some things need to be installed before others per plans and I do not have the proper center panel. When I received a center panel with my fuselage it had the cutouts for the SkyView autopilot controls. Obviously this doesn't work for the GMC 307 that I am installing. So I need to order the correct center panel. That delays some of the steps involved in installation. But I started on what I could do.
First started out with section 42M - Control Modules. I installed the AV-50000A control module. The com and transponder antenna were installed. B helped me some during this process. I
I then went to section 42N. I countersunk the left panel as per plans. I mounted the GSU ADAHRS to the baggage floor assembly. Steps then went on to replacing the Static line on the T connector. In the process of trying to install the new longer line I broke the plastic T. So another part to order before I can proceed in that area. I installed the GMU 22 Magnetometer. The left panel strip required some adjustments and new nutplates attached so that was accomplished. Then riveted the stiffener to left panel. The doubler was also riveted to the panel base. The backup battery and transponder firewall brackets were then installed. The instructions then said to complete sections 42M, 53B, 44B, and 42G before proceeding in this section. So on to a different section.
I went on to completing the connection of the R-Servo wiring as per section 44B-06.
Section 53B was then next installed the Garmin ADS-B. The GDL 39R was installed along with the bracket. The antenna bracket and antenna was then installed.
Then onto section 61, Garmin ADS-B out. The GA 36 GPS/WAAS antenna was installed. A hole was drilled through the firewall and the GPS antenna and a grommet was then installed. I drilled the holes in the mapbox for mounting the GPS 20A but will wait on installing until I have the right panel painted and installed.
Section 42G, GTR200 Com-Intercom was then started. I riveted nutplates on the stack angles and then installed the stack angles to the panel base. I also installed the Com-support brackets. Wires were then guided through snap bushings in the brackets. There will probably need to be some wire cleanup as we get all the wiring routed. I then installed the GTR200 tray and connected the wiring to the control module.
A lot was accomplished today. Looking forward to getting that center panel so I can go back and complete some steps.
