Lighting wiring

Worked today on some of the lighting wiring in the wings.  I thought it would be easier to run the wires now before starting to skin the wings. I will work on portions of the wiring section while placing the skins on the wings. Wires were cut to length as per plans and attached the connectors on the inboard rib of each wing. All wires were labeled on each end.

Time: 1.5 hrs.

Stall warning / wiring

T and I attached the stall warning to the rib. I did place another nutplate on the rib even though only one was shown on page 15-02. We placed the skin over temporary and adjusted the stall warning arm as needed to allow for proper function. We then installed the wiring as per plans.

A string was ran through the ribs for future wiring of the lights.  We will be doing the lighting kit before we completely installed the skins on the wings, but the string will help with pulling some of the wires.

I need to purchase some Loctite 243 before we can continue with plans, so we spent a little time preparing some of the small parts needed in future sections so they are ready.

Time:  2 hrs.

Left and right rib attachment

T helped me today get some good progress on the wings. We started by riveting the left rear spar assembly on the left main ribs. We then proceeded to rivet the nose ribs onto the left spar.  Again it was very important to make sure the right rib was in the correct location. The left stub spar was then attached and the bushings placed in the ribs.

One question came up to how many nutplates should be on the selected ribs as on page 15-02.  The instructions there show 1 nutplate per each of the selected ribs, but in assembling the wing, page 15-04 instructions and figure show more than one nutplate attached per each of those ribs.  An email was sent to vans to clarify before I skin the wings.

We then started assembling the right wing, starting with the riveting of the right main ribs onto the right spar. The right rear spar assembly was then attached.

Time: 3.25 hrs.

Spent a short amount of time I had between other activities to debur a few more nose ribs today.  I can tell this is going to take some time to get all the ribs deburred and fluted.
